Bronze Nephthytis Arrowhead

This is the Bronze Nephthytis Arrowhead plant. Its botanical name is Syngonium Podophyllum. Some other names are five fingers, American evergreen, and the arrowhead vine. This plant is easy to grow indoors and does not require much care. The leaves are shaped like an arrowhead, each leaf has a green color with a pretty bronzen color in the center. As this plant starts to grow, it will grow similar to a vine plant would.

These plants prefer bright light. When they are in low lighted areas, it will start to drop leaves and lose color. When watering this plant, you can water it on a weekly basis. Make sure the soil is dried out on the top before watering again. Root rot is very common in plants that are overwatered. These plants can tolerate different temperatures.

The best potting mixture to use is your standard indoor potting mix that you can buy at your local gardening store. Make sure the soil that you use is a well draining soil. Be sure to use a pot that has a drainage hole for the water to seep through. Be sure to repot if the plant becomes root bound. These plants grow fairly slow, so you can repot every other year if needed. Use a pot that is slightly bigger than the root system allowing room for growth.

If you notice that your plants leaves are dropping this could be for a number of reasons. It can be due to lack of water or overwatering. If the leaves are turning yellow this could mean that it is being underwatered or overwatered. It could also be due to nitrogen deficiency, to combat this you can use houseplant fertilizer at half strength giving it the nutrients it needs. Brow tips on the leaves can be from dry air. Using a humidifier in the house can help with that.
